Hello. I have just converted a Disk ][ compatible drive to a DB-19 plug for my //c. I believe that I connected all of the wires correctly: Old 20-pin number/name New 19-pin number/name 1 GND 1 GND 2 SEEKPH0 2 GND 3 GND 3 GND 4 SEEKPH1 4 GND 5 GND 5 -12V 6 SEEKPH2 6 +5V 7 GND 7 +12V 8 SEEKPH3 8 +12V 9 -12V 9 EXTINT* 10 WRREQ* 10 WRPROT 11 +5V 11 SEEKPH0 12 +5V 12 SEEKPH1 13 +12V 13 SEEKPH2 14 ENABLE* 14 SEEKPH3 15 +12V 15 WRREQ* 16 RDDATA 16 nc 17 +12V 17 ENABLE* 18 WRDATA 18 RDDATA 19 +12V 19 WRDATA 20 WRPROT If these are wrong, please tell me! So I plug in the drive, and turn on the //c, and the second drive starts spinning (NOT recallibrating), and there is no reset, the screen doesn't clear, no "Apple //c" message, there is a beep. Also, the ENABLE* line is low, enabling the drive. I have plugged in the drive after booting another disk, then it works, but pressing reset starts the second drive, and nothing else happens. I have also tried both apples-control-reset, to get a self test, and the same spinning occured. I need help! Well, I guess I could suffer a while longer with only one disk drive, but some of you out there should have tried this by now, and some of those should have had the same problem. My //c does have the 3.5 ROMs, but not the slot, if that matters. Chris Schumann chris@pipe.cs.wisc.edu
