[comp.sys.apple] Multitasking/Unix for the GS

lwv@n8emr.UUCP (Larry W. Virden) (04/18/88)

Note that Minix is a low cost source of a unix-like operating system which
currently runs on 8088 and higher processors. I dont know how much
work it would be to port it to the GS, but at least one university had
some students port it to the Mac...

P.S. I certainly would be interested in such a project. It seems bizarre
to me that a 8+ meg machine, capable of supporting multiple 32meg hard disks,
does not have an os with pipes, multi-tasking, etc. I dont need multi-users.

I have tried to pass along to the os/9 folks that the GS might be an interesting
possible market, but they dont seem to think that there would be enough sales.
