[comp.sys.apple] clarifying

CHRIS@BROWNVM.BITNET (Christopher Chung) (04/19/88)

I didn't say that the Apple2-l list was leaving, I just said that those
of you who can access comp.binaries.apple2 should sign up on that list
(uucp people). Those on bitnet should continue to stay on the apple2-l list
since the two lists will be linked. You wouldn't want to receive two
copies of everything, would you?

incidently, question: I rarely actually use my apple because of dificulties
in going from one prodos program to another.

a) how does one get basic on a prodos disk

b) how could one put ones forth or pascal on there

c) if a program asks for a pathname, and one doesn't remember the proper
one (ie when leaving an application such as ascii express (?) , is there
a way to simply put a disk in the drive, have a listing of possible
paths printed up, and then specify the path to use?

thanx in advance, david

Answers a) You must load a program that will allow you to exit to BASIC, I
have made a program for myself that I load, then it will put me at BASIC. The
other way is to load BASIC.SYSTEM.

b) --Not sure -- I don't use Pascal or Forth.

c) To get a list of SYS (system) files on the current prefix, you must have a
program that will do it for you, some of the more popular ones are Squirt,
ProSel, ECP, and I believe Davex does the same thing. There are a number of
them available -- too many to list here.

If you want the program I use to go to BASIC, then leave me mail, and I'll
send it to you (in Executive form), and I'll do some checking on question "b"
if noone else posts a answer.
