I seem to be getting my share of problems... Today's subject: uploading binary files to unix. I've tried xmodem (ProTERM, Z-Link with UNIX xmodem ver 3.4), ymodem (same), and Kermit (ProTERM Kermit protocol, UNIX ver 4E(066) or 4D(061)) but the result is generally the same: it works with short files only. The files will download for a while, and then either an ack failure (xmodem) or something bizarre occurs (kermit... suddenly leaps from block 41 to 48, and stops dead). I suspect that the UNIX end has the problems, because somebody down the hall with a Mac has had similar problems. Note that uploading files, both text (executioner files) and data (GIF files), works fine. I find it somewhat hard to believe that these programs are flaking out so badly. If other people have been having similar problems, surely something would have been done. Of course, how often do you upload binary files? Perhaps the rest of you could try it; e-mail your results to me and I'll post a tally of success vs failure. Remember to try something 6K or larger.
