[comp.sys.apple] TIC and unenhanced //e

delton@pro-carolina.cts.COM (Don Elton) (05/04/88)

If you have the unenhanced //e (the ones sold before March of 1985 with the
buggy screen firmware ROM) then you can lose data during screen scrolls as the
unenhanced //e disables interrupts during scroll operations. Some programs
include their own screen scrolling code to bypass this bug but since Apple
hasn't sold any machines with the broken ROM for 3 years and the fix is
readily available for $70 I haven't felt the need to do this in TIC since the
code space can better be used for other features for the majority of users who
are using either the enhanced //e or the //c or the IIgs. You can have mosts
hosts add a few nulls to CR's in the meantime but the enhancement kit is the
best solution.
