[one for the line-eater beast] Gremlins is great! See it before all the commercialism kills its appeal. I do not recommend this movie to any child under the age of 10: When I saw the movie, I noted a number of very small children being led out screaming. They were frightened mostly by gremlins which jumped out and snarled at people, full screen. However, the movie is pretty blood-less; there is less blood and gore here than on T.V. ! It is filled with all kinds of silliness and background jokes galore. All of which make it a challenge to view the film. Speilberg enjoys spoofing his own films, as he did in Indiana Jones (Club Obi Wan???), and he continues to do so with Gremlins. The characters are appealling, and the gremlins themselves are sometimes uproariously funny and sometimes rather nasty. There are a few group-gremlin scenes which are not to be missed. Certainly, some killing does occur. But the killing is inferred rather than shown; like the good movies used to do. There is not one single bloody corpse. The one body which appears on screen is shown face down, no blood visible. THUMBS UP! joy {allegra,decvax}!mit-vax!joy joy@mit-vax (ARPA)
