[comp.sys.apple] AE GS cards..

Dale, (?)

I was the person who posted about AE... You are right that AE had indeed
made good on the problem with there GS-Ram DMA problem. If I'm correct they
also made the CUSTOMER pay for the upgrade.. This to me totally wrong as it
IS NOT the customers fault. It was AE's fault. True Apple did make the mistake
and also [from what AE had told me] looked over AE's card. Still there is no
reason I can think of that would make the Customer liable for this?? If other
main computer companies made customers pay for a mistake that they made I'm
sure they wouldn't be around to long. Often enough third party designs have
in fact brought out problems within a manufacturers specs. They said one thing
but did another. The recourse was to fix the bug at no cost.. As for there GS
Ram cards they do work now and are a good product. As for the GS Ramkeeper..
Well how could you sell a product that LEADS you to think that it will work
with your card right out of the box when infact it won't. I have an APPLE card
and would need the slot saver. The slot saver is not available yet!! Also they
talk about you getting linear memory in the ad. That is not always the case!
If you look at the ads over the last 3-4 months they have changed alot. They
just now say that it looks like a ROM where before it was just BBU on the ram.
There is alot more but..... I know FIRST hand of four people who had/have the
Ramkeeper and choose not to use or are sending it back for the above reasons.
I KNOW that you can't say everthing in an AD... Just tell us though what it
really does... Applied Eng is a GOOD company and make some excellent products,
maybe I just expect to much from them.... I apologize if I lead anyone astray,
