[comp.sys.apple] Pictures on APPLE2-L

tsouth@pro-pac.cts.COM (System Administrator) (05/15/88)

What is with these pictures on apple2-l or its usenet equivalent? This is
ridiculously a waste of space IMHO. I'd rather have 10 updates to DAVEX
coming over everyday than this picture dump. If a vote is taken in any
way to halt or produce more pictures, I vote to halt it. There is no reason
to spend so much bandwidth on a net that was set up for *PROGRAMS* to be
transfered through. Please, someone in charge, take a vote on this
or just do away with the sending of pictures on a program feeder. Make
another feed if necessary to compliment the added workload! I'll even send
you plenty of pictures, though my site won't subscribe to it as there are
literally hundred's of //gs pictures floating around and we do NOT need
another source for something that takes up too much space!

Methinks this is a USENET (UUCP) problem. To the extent comp.binaries.apple2
is "administered," some thought might be given to how appropriate picture
files (they ARE binary after all :-) are.

APPE2-L (bitnet/Internet) archives. Anyone not wishing to be bothered
by unwanted files can simply unsubscribe from the list, check the archive
index from time to time and order what they want (that, by the way is a
good reason for clarity of subject lines in email sent to APPLE2-L).
