A while back someone mentioned having problems in getting HodgePodge, the demo program included with the "Apple II Programmer's Introduction to the Apple IIGS", to boot up and run. I have also encountered the problem; the program fails with a $1301 error. This is the "missingDriver" error generated by the Print Manager, meaning that the specified driver is not in the DRIVERS subdirectory of the SYSTEM subdirectoruy. It looks like we finally have a reason for *not* deleting the APPLETALK driver routine, since I don't have that driver on my copy of SYSTEM.DISK . For those of us who are having this problem, I think the best thing to do is to go down to your Apple dealer and get a copy of the current system disk 3.1, use that, and see what happens. --------------- John K. As it happens I just receved my Programmers Introduction today and booted it before going on line. I am using 3.1 but have removed the Apple Talk completly from my disk so that's not your problem. What I suspect is that there is a version check (there was in the assembly version on the programers example disk froma apda) and TML pascal won't work properly with earlier versions of the system disk. I have booted all three version noting only one problem. The C version does not load pictures properly the last few scans don't get loaded leaving a mess along the bottom edge if you move the scroll bar. I also had ocational problems with the C version again loading a proportional font I did not come out properly.
