I would not be all that concerned about Scullys comments that they
have abandoned the consumer markets in which the consumers are unwilling
to spend as much on buying a computer as on a TV.
Apple has never sold a computer that cost less than a TV, and Apple
is not interested in the consumer market where the parents buy a CHEAP TOY
for the little KIDS to PLAY WITH and throw in the CLOSET when they get
bored with it.
This is hardly a new policy on Apples part, Apple is just trying to
shut up the idiots in the AppleII press who want Apple to sell //cs in
Toys-R-Us for $300 next to the Commodores and Ataris, such rumors hurt
Apple// sales.
As for making you buy a Macintosh, Apple is turning the IIGS into a
Color Mac. Unlike others I do not think this is a crime, and when Apple
introduces the faster IIGS+ with its faster ROMS, you will like the
IIGS-Macintosh Interface as well.

The current GS is rather far from being a color Mac. You need a Mac for a
file server (even if you're only serving Apple ]['s) or if you want fast
turnaround time for development (the APW cross-development environment.)

It *IS* a crime, when you use a Mac II. Believe me. The GS would have to
be sped up more than can be done with current technology in order to get it
to run at a reasonable speed doing all those backflips to make you happy.
