Several of the recent postings from APPLE2-L have arrived with titles like WONDERFUL PROGRAM part 1 of 2. Unfortunately, part 2 hasn't followed. Am I the only one missing these or is this an effect of the ARPANET gateway problem mentioned by Chris earlier? Eric S. Ford ------

Traffic through cunyvm.cuny.edu has become so heavy that large files often are delayed for more than three days and bounce back. Early in the week, some re-cabling on the arpa side caused an outage at the gateway for a day or so which didn't help. With any luck, we'll have a "fix" sometime next month (sorry, to take so long but with crashing net links and vacations action is backlogged). Speaking of "out." Brown moved their computer into a new building last weekend and must have hot-wired their network links to an old car battery. Tuesday Brown's link to Yale failed for 3.5 days causing a file back up of nearly 5,000 files (including bitnet's entire supply of info-apple message for the week). Today, for some reason Yale's link to CUNY is down (3,900 files waiting in the queue -- many arrived last night from Brown). So, if you get messages from bitnet nodes to items you posted last week, that's why. Sometimes networks make the U.S.nail appear the paragon of efficiency. --------------------- Disclaimer: The "look and feel" of this message is exclusively MINE!
