What it does it look at your disks volume bit-map, then carefully write 0's to all blocks on your disk that are marked as "in use" by the volume bit-map. What sometimes happens (?) is when you delete a file from your disk, it might just have it's entry removed from the volume directory header, but your program will remain on the disk, so when DDD Pro (or any other full-disk packing program) packs your disk, it will include the erased program, even though you thought you erased it. This will cause you to pack some unwanted data. If you use Optimise before packing, it will remove the file completely, and the result is your packed file will be shorter than if you didn't optimize. Hope that helps. |--------------------------( Carl Boernecke )-------------------------| Send | UUCP: crash!pro-avalon!carlb InterNet: carlb@pro-avalon.cts.com | E-Mail | ARPA: crash!pro-avalon!carlb@nosc.mil ProLine: carlb@pro-avalon | to --> | ProLine [pro-avalon] - (619) 271-0131 - 300-2400 bps - 24 hours | |---------------------------------------------------------------------|
