As was pointed out some time ago, Paintworks Gold doesn't like a RAM disk set up in memory when it is running. Several reseting options have been presented, but the easiest way (with no problems that I've ever encountered) involves setting up a maximum RAM disk size of 800K (or whatever) and a minimum RAM disk size of 0K. This way the OS can create a RAM disk if appropriate, or ignore it and have free access to the extra memory. Dave.

I've never looked into it, so I'm completely clueless as to how /RAM5 works as it does... Does ProDOS just read in the battery-backed RAM stuff and then write the virgin directory out to it? Or is it handled by some low-level stuff? What happens if /RAM5 needs memory and it's all taken up? Questions galore... I'm an experienced (if somewhat lazy) programmer, and can deal with a techy answer. Any responses appreciated! Jason - Not your average iconoclast. If Barbie were blown up to human size, her measurements would be 39",21",33". (For real!)

Small Problem with that approach if you want to use the finder (there may be other applications with problems but the finder is the only one I have heard)..... The Finder will get disk errors if you try to copy a group of files to the RAMdisk. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------| | oliver@thelink.UUCP |AT&T (219) 291-8343| GEnie K.SUMNER [Joel] | | (Joel Sumner) |----------------------------------------------------| |USnail 1505 Sheffield Ct. | It is always darkest before the lights go out | | South Bend, IN 46614| | !--------------------------------------------------------------------------!
