When most disk packers "optimize a disk" they go through the the Volume Bit Map
and look for *all* the blocks that are marked as "not in use", then they
fill the unused blocks with $00s. This removes the remnants of any deleted
files and allows the disk to pack up smaller. There's no reason to do this
on your hard disk. It won't improve its performance any.

If you get me a domain-based address, Heiko, I'll see if I can scratch up a
copy of the DDD Pro docs for you. (mumblefoo.UUCP is NOT a domain address...
mumblefoo.baz.com is.)

Reaching UUCP addresses can be an adventure. Many UUCP sites do not have
domain addresses (at least not simple ones). I'm not sure about
European gateways from the Internet to UUCP, but you are at a BITNET
gateway, so you should be able to use:

Heiko Blume <tub!tmpmbx!netmbx!blume@DDOINF6.BITNET>
         or <lll-winken!pyramid!tub!netmbx!blume@PSUVAX1.BITNET>
  and probably <blume%netmbx.UUCP@DDOINF6.BITNET>

On the other hand -
    # DOMAIN: blume@netmbx.UUCP  BITNET: ( mixed }

is meaningless as a domain, and netmbx is NOT a BITNET site, so the
reference implying some sort of UUCP-BITNET combination is inaccurate.
Most BITNET mailers will accept blume@netmbx.UUCP as an address
automatically routed to a UUCP gateway that will generate a UUCP path
with special software, but that's not a general address by any means.
