Much of Gremlins is very reminiscent of a movie I saw many years ago on the tube called "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark". The movie was about a couple who move into a house which has a room which they are warned not to go into. Well, they go in, and they find a fireplace which is bolted shut which they are warned not to open. Well, they open it. These ugly little monsters come out, are very mischevious, are afraid of the light, etc. Again, they terrorize the woman of the house, and in one scene she even uses a flash camera to scare them away (sound familiar ?!). Personally, I thought that DBAotD was much better (and scarier) than GREMLINS and it didn't cost me $5 and an hour in line to see. Another scene in GREMLINS (involving a chainsaw) looked an awful lot like a scene in what I believe was the scariest film of all time, "The Last House on the Left". I guess a big budget does not a horror film make, eh? Lee Hasiuk

Is a TV movie a rip off of Greek Mythology. ...a while back I remember reading a story about some girl and two boxes, one of which she is told not to open, which she does releasing all the troubles of the world... Is a TV movie a rip off of the Bible... ..it seems that you weren't supposed to eat the fruit off this one tree... -Ron
