[comp.sys.apple] Looking for a few good programmers

I have been having an interesting conversation with someone with regard
to the use of the GNU cc compiler in a cross compiler mode. Basically
this person is attempting to create a cross compiler which would run on
his Sun 3 and would output assembler for his Z80 chip. That started me thinking
- right now one of the biggest gripes of IIgs owners is that there is no
good CHEAP languages available for the IIgs. Anyone out there familar enough
with the 65816 to attempt to gen up a GCC cross compiler for the IIgs?
Perhaps if you could get it to output assembler which would be compatible with
either Merlin or Orca (which ever you have) or even better, get the GNU
assember (known as gas) to compile IIgs binaries, then we could get the
various GNU utilities (gnu make, gnu c, gnu c++, bison, and so on) up and
running at home. I could live with (at leave for a while) editing my
C code, uploading it to the 8700 at work, creating binaries, and downloadsing
them. Anyone want to take a shot at it? Maybe if THAT got done, then someone
would take a short at porting minix to the IIgs so that we would be able to
run a unix-alike at home - with a few mods it seems like it ought to be
able to be set up to read either prodos or minix disks...
