Its Logical contradiction: if there are CDA's that can crack the copy protection then the authors' efforts only hassle honest users (they don't stop copies). >regretable that it is difficult to boot the software, but I'm sure that John >Brooks (the author whom is an acquaintance of mine) had no intention of making >the task of using the game more difficult for you. I'm not surprised to find games copy protected, but copy protection schemes that require a cold boot probably are "shooting themselves in the foot." And, why not a scheme that permits a single backup (most Broderbund software does that) or at least contains a backup disk with the original purchase? Frankly, everytime I buy a program with one of those "send $10 <sometimes more> for a backup disk" inserts I appreciate all the more those frequent, modestly priced, updates from Central Point. Daniel, I will agree that most software will probably be copy protected, but I do not think that the protection should make the program more difficult to use. A complete shutdown of your system is absolutely uncalled for. I know that I don't want to power down my system every time I want to use a different program. I do not think that asking the company to remove copy protection is asking too much. They could AT LEAST modify their protection to allow a warm boot of their program. -- ----- -Joe
