This one's kind of an emergency, folks, so any fast help would be appreciated. I'm in the process of upgrading my parents' Apple //e (64K, 1983 Rev. B motherboard, unenhanced) so they can run their store's inventory system from 3.5" disks. They've been using the PFS: File and Report programs for years now and are, for the most part, happy with it. So what I've done so far is to get the upgraded PFS programs that work under PRODOS, and converted the old files they had so they would work with the new software. I also installed a card that is advertized to be a 100% replacement for Apple's extended 80 column card. It works with Appleworks, Copy ][ plus, double hi-res programs, etc. The problem is, of course, that the PFS stuff refuses to run! Sometimes they will get an error 14H, whatever that is, sometimes a PRODOS error $43 (I'm not normally a PRODOS user, and don't know what that is either), and sometimes just sits there with a cleared screen after turning 80 column mode on. PRODOS loads just fine. I called Software Publishing and spoke to a Tech Support person after waiting on hold for 15 minutes. She said I don't need an enhanced //e, just 128K. I explained that I had that, to which she replied that the extended 80 card MUST be in slot 0 for the program to recognize it. I tried to tell her that Apple //e's don't HAVE slot 0's, and the card goes in the Auxiliary slot, and that's the only place it fits. She got kind of irate and the conversation ended shortly thereafter. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM HERE?!?!?! I've got a 3.5" drive and Universal Disk Controller waiting to go into it, so I want to get everything else working with the software before the 30-day return period expires. And please, don't flame my mailbox, telling me to buy a GS--that's really out of the question. ___ __/ \ _ / _ \_/ \__^__/\_/-\ Pete Wenzel | | | ---PMWenzel----> Caltech 1-60 | |_| ==============/ Pasadena, CA 91126 \__ / @CITRomeo.Bitnet (818) 577-9005 \___/ @Juliet.Caltech.Edu
