[comp.sys.apple] atp & zlink

blume@netmbx.UUCP (Heiko Blume) (07/25/88)

seems that the atp files in comp.binaries.apple2 were somehow corrupted...
at least i couldnt even get them to exec correctly...anyone else had the same
problem ?
has anyone tested atp with vttest ? i just ran it with z-link which didnt pass
all tests (i.e. test 1.2/3). especially the terminal reports dont work at all.
ah yes, since z-link uses the MLI irq_alloc/dealloc stuff it cant keep up with
19200 baud anymore. looses > 50% . 9600 works ok tho....at least it eats the
menus from the modem.

I figure 19,200 would be lost. If you know of a better (but safe) way of doing
things, then let me know!

Z-Link doens't quite do all the right stuff when vttest is doing 132 col stuff.
You pretty much have to ignore what happens during 132 col tests. As for term
reports, cal you tell me what is sent to ask for a report and what the response
should be? I implemented it as described by my feeble spec sheet, but it isn't
correct as vttest says unrecognized sequence or some such.

The original posting (from RPI) ran into many problems. The re-post
that followed a week later from GE should be okay. Which one do you
have? If you would like me to send you a copy via e-mail (or real
mail), let me know.

But of course I did... That's a good way to write a terminal emulator.
It does not support 132 column or graphics modes, obviously, but it
works perfectly other than that. In fact, by the time I got my hands
on a copy of vttest, all I had to fix was the handling of cursor
movement in the middle of escape sequences.
