BAD ADVICE!

If you suspect that some part of your system has been infected by a
virus, RESTORE your programs from a backup rather than making one.
You might want to back up your DATA carefully, but not your whole
hard drive, for example.  (Maybe that's what Brett meant; just
wanted to clarify it.)
