Morgan Davis transposts a message from Andy Nicholas concerning a re-design of the IIgs case and a different keyboard: >------------< Cut Here, send to: Apple Computer Inc's Engineers >----------- >How about making the GS's case 4 inches wider, and on the right-hand side >(as you face the machine), put a $1.50 piece of aluminum for a mounting >bracket for a 20-meg 3.5" hard drive to sit on edge (or horizontally) >inside the machine. Then, beside the drive, drive, further towards the >front, place a small (*QUIET*) muffin fan to cool the whole system. I hate to be in the path of progress for the IIgs, but in my opinion, I love my IIgs case just the way it is. I don't want a bigger footprint and I don't want the Mac keyboard (which he mentions later in the article). The only hardware upgrade I would like to see Apple make is the one they should have done in the first place. So, I propose the following cut and paste instead: ------------< Cut Here, send to: Apple Computer Inc's Engineers >----------- 1) Make the IIgs run at the correct Mhz rating for the 65C816. 2.8 is a slap in the face and an obvious ploy to keep the machine from treading on Macintosh ground. 2) Give it an operating system that will load faster than a C-64. Preferably one that can read HFS Mac disks directly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- These two modifications to the IIgs would cost nothing to R&D since Apple probably already has a faster IIgs somewhere in Cupertino and they certainly would not have to work very hard to make the IIgs drive read HFS. Hope I have done this right, it's my first post on the net... Monty McNew UUCP: crash!pro-newfrontier!pro-freedom (Gads, I don't even know if my address is right, but I had to get it off my chest!)
