If you like, you may order the new version but it won't be shipped until the version is finished and tested (and new docs are written). TIC Update file version 3.00 Aug 15, 1988 ---------------------------- [3.00] The OA-M menu has been rearranged in a more logical format. [3.00] ECHO mode has been renamed as DEBUG mode to be more descriptive. [3.00] An error on an autosave during a quit sequence will abort the quit operation so you don't lose the buffer. [3.00] The OA-W Buffer write command will not overwrite an existing file as it used to. [3.00] Append mode is now the default for automatic buffer saves. [3.00] Pressing ESC will now abort a catalog before the pathname has been entered. [3.00] The OA-Q command now gives an option of disabling the modem port. [3.00] The QUIT command will exit TIC and disable the modem port. [3.00] The EXIT command will exit TIC without disabling the modem port. [3.00] A bug in controlling the printer from a command file is now fixed. [3.00] You can now use slot 3 for a super serial card clone on the //e so you can save a slot. [3.00] A GOTOXY command has been added to the command language to control the placement of the cursor on the screen. [3.00] TIC's directory command is now usable on the AppleTalk network. [3.00] The BREAK command now sends the Attention/Break signal from a command file. [3.00] Flow control (X-on/X-off) is now supported during ascii text uploads. Pressing a key at the keyboard aborts a wait for the X-on signal. [3.00] Bug that caused inordinate delay at the end of a text file transfer if the file doesn't end with a carriage return is fixed. [3.00] The OA-M menu now asks if you want changes to be made permanent after you accept any changes made to settings there. [3.00] Title screen no longer asks for a keypress at startup if a TIC.STARTUP file is being executed. [3.00] The current version number of the program will be displayed at the top of the help screen. [3.00] TIC now can print via printer interfaces that are not compatible with the Pascal 1.1 firmware protocol by using the BASIC firmware protocol. This is an automatic switch. TIC will continue to use the Pascal firmware if it is available as it is more consistently implemented by printer interface cards. [3.00] A bug that made it difficult to abort from a protocol file transfer during a send operation is fixed. [3.00] The status line is updated more frequently while you are recording data into the recording buffer. [3.00] The timing routines inside TIC for the PAUSE statement and other internal areas have been made more accurate. [3.00] The Ymodem drivers have been updated to better handle Ymodem batch header information that may be appended to the front of a file when used with some hosts. Batch mode transfers are still not supported. [3.00] There is no longer an option to run TIC in a 64K environment. [3.00] A new file transfer protocol, '4MODEM' has been added to TIC. 4MODEM is similar to YMODEM except it uses an even larger block size of 4096 bytes. This is useful for speeding up file transfers when you're using a high speed modem. This protocol is also supported by Ascii Express MouseTalk and will be supported by ProLine soon. [3.00] TIC no longer directly controls the speed of your Transwarp or Accellerator //e. It allows the user to specify a timing constant to standardize the timing when a speed-up card or chip is in use. [3.00] You can now control the display of the Status line from within a command file. (STATLINE ON/OFF) [3.00] 4 user definable variables are now available for use in script files. Several new commands are added to support these variables to allow for value assignment, reading data from the keyboard or modem and sticking it into a variable, testing the value of variables for conditional branching, testing for substrings within a variable, reading data from a file into a variable or writing data from a variable into a file, etc. [3.00] Commands have been added to allow you to open up to two text files for either reading or writing from within script files. You can branch based on the contents of lines of text files and can create and write to log files etc all under script file control. [3.00] A TIC script can now suspend and restore output to the CRT display. This allows you to have a script log on to an online system without displaying the actual logon process. It also allows for the creation of very smart scripts that totally control a session with the user only seeing the interface created by the script file and not seeing any of the data from the host directly (though it may still be recorded into files and such and acted on by the script in an interactive fasion). [3.00] Multiple bug fixes etc accumulated since the last update.
