[comp.sys.apple] Apple II complaints

halp@TCGOULD.TN.CORNELL.EDU ("Bruce P. Halpern") (09/20/88)

An internal power supply for the //c+, with no 12 vdc port, is a big
mistake. The //c was really international and portable, since only the
power supply had to be changed to run it anywhere, including from auto
batteries. I routinely used my //c in a car (when I'm not driving), with
power coming from the ciagrette lighter socket via a $30 Roger Coats
adapter (correct connectors on both ends, 10 ft cable, LED that indicates
that the polarity of the 12 vdc supply is wrong or right) and an Apple
//c Flat Panel Display. Yes, the display requires a lot of light, and '
is never great, but considering the supply of LapTops provided by
Apple, . . . For complete portability, I use a Prarie Power rechargable battery system. It's big and
heavy, but it works and isn't vaporware.

Given the absence of the much-desired "flat-mac", the portable //c is
very useful. I think Apple missed the ball on this one.

****DISCLAMER: My comments, etc., are my own shakey opinions ********
