I think that's an excellent point, and I must apologize for totally screwing
up my point. No, I don't think that all movies which take some point of view
on life are bad and pretentious, and that's stupid on my part for posting a
message which would indicate such. My original response was made just
because I was tiring of people hoarding those who enjoy things like ST, SW,
IJ&TOD into one heap of juvenile tripe.

My complaint, after careful consideration, is this. Good movies, in my
estimation, can do BOTH entertain and make some kind of comment. What I
was griping about (mindlessly, I admit) are films which kind of shake your
hand and kick you in the rear with some slight-of-hand message; kind of
like "China Syndrome" Its adventure; no its an anti-nuke statement.
Even TV has done this; "Quincy", a fine dramatic series, in my opinion,
did a show on a shooting; no, it turned out to be a push for gun control.
THATS what I gripe about. "TERMS" and the like are all fine movies; and
I mean to apologize for some of the truly silly things I said before.

By the way, Mr. Rosen, I think the net version of Sneak Previews is a great
idea...... :-)

P.S. What REALLY got my dander up was that SW and ST ad naseum are often
lumped into the same category. I am of the opinion that ST is far
and above SW, and comes closer to being in the human, commentary
category of films than SW ever did or ever will, and as such doesn't
really deserved to be offhandedly be cast into the pit of "juvenile
tripe..." Oh, well, I've said my peace, and I'll get out of this
      whole discussion....
