I have a chance to get some re-furbished hard disks and I was hoping if anyone could tell me if I would be wasting my time or not. The person who is passing this info onto me is using two of them on his Atari ST. These are SCSI (according to the person who is passing the info on to me) drives. They are the CMI model #5619. They are rated at 15 MEG. Sell for $175.00 (rebuilt) in Computer shopper. Format out to 22.84 MEG with Adaptec controller 4070 (on the ST). Specs are as follows: Cyclinders 306/ Heads 6/ Landzone 4/ Seekrate 2 or 4MS Access time is 85Ms. (Kinda slow, but the price!). My question is: If I buy a SCSI card for my IIgs... will these drives work without major hassle? I am not a hardware hacker (nor any other kind). BTW, I have a chance to get them for less than the Computer Shopper ad. And no, they are not warm to the touch... I am getting them from a local policeman. If anyone is interested and think they can make these work, send me mail.
