I have been reading the 'furture of the apple //' discussion, and find it interesting. I have an apple //e, unenhanced at home. I use a macintosh at work. I have been wondering what to do with the //: upgrade to a GS, keep it for misc. use (home control?) and buy a GS, or just sit tight, solve 'Spellbreaker' and play a few video games. My personal policy has always been to 'skip a generation'. Not upgrade/trade in/etc every time something better comes along, but every other time. And with Sculley's announcement putting a GS+ 12 to 18 months away (Oct '89 to Apr '90) .... I was reading MacWeek (I said I use a macintosh at work), and on the cover of the September 13 '88 issue is a discussion of new apple cpu's. And at the bottom of the list was 'K-12 mac' scheduled for introduction in 4Q89. Quoting from the article (without authorization) "Nor has Apple turned its back on the education market. Plans call for a low-cost color Mac that "uniquely supports K-12 consumer needs" with a 16 MHz 68020 processor, a socket for a 68030 and an optional 15-inch full-page display." Just pointing out the handwriting on the walls.... Chris Wood ...bcr!nvuxr!ccw disclaimer: It's all my opinion. except what I quoted. that's someone else's. I have no affiliation with MacWeek, except for reading their publication. I have no affiliation with apple computer inc. tm. etc. except as a reasonably happy consumer of both the apple // and macintosh products. I only write on paper, and most people can't read it anyway
