There is a definite timing bug in the finder that came on the 4.0 system disk. Has anyone else noticed it? I haven't been able to narrow it down, but fairly frequently (couple times a day) when I double click on an application icon the system completely hangs after closing any open windows. This occurs with icons onteh desktop; I can't say whether it occurs with double clicking on document icons or with icons inside windows. Originally I thought it might have been related to trying to select the icon while the system was still coming up to steam, but it has occurred when things were completely static. I believe, but can't say for sure, that it has happened with both S16 files and BIN files (which, actually, I guess are technically document icons forcing the load of BASIC.LAUNCHER) since I frequently go back and forth between two such applicaions. It seems to happen to me only after I've run certain P8 applications, and then returned to the finder. The next file I try to launch results in complete lock-up of the system. Some P8 programs (such as Proterm) do not have this effect, while others (I believe D.D.Deluxe does it) do. I have noticed another bug. If I have a 3.5 disk icon on the desktop, and drag it to the trash, it ejects, and the disk icon disappears. No problem. However, if I eject the disk, (resulting in a dimmed 3.5 icon), and then try to throw away the icon, the system hangs. I can't get any response after that, but if I hit Ctrl-Apple-Esc, the 3.5 drive light comes on momentarily, that goes back out. Has anyone else experienced this behavior, or is my system just acting funny? jockc ihnp4!killer!jockc
