[comp.sys.apple] Does //c+ have SWIM chip?

ralphw@C7.IUS.CS.CMU.EDU (Ralph Hyre) (10/08/88)

Does/Will the //c+ have the SWIM (Super IWM?) chip for talking to those
nifty multiformat SuperDrives? (Apple 400,800,1600K & IBM 360,720,1440K)
You might want to daisy-chain one, even if it's not built in.

Or will there be a //cGS+ex with 65816, SIMMs, SCSI, Appletalk and SWIM
chip:-)?

Is it just a chip change (involving a motherboard swap in the age of
unsoldered chips and SMDs)? are are the pinouts different

the //c+ does NOT have the SWIM chip. Also, I think that there is more than
just a chip change involved here, though I don't know in what respect. All I
know is that there were a lot of changes made to the Macintosh .Sony driver
to get it to support the SWIM chip.
