Keith or someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the GS/OS RAM cache only caches directory blocks, not data blocks. As an experiment I set mine up to 160K. Went into WordPerfect, read in a 50 block file, saw the drive's light flicker throughout, cleared the workspace, and read in the same file again. The drive's light still flickered teh same as before, i.e., the data had not been cached. Messed around doing a lot of directory examinations ("File Management" menu) and noticed after awhile that the drive wasn't being read. Immediately after I had read teh file twice (before playing with different directories) I looked at the RAM control panel which said I still had 160K unused RAM, so htere was no way the cache was full.
