Has anyone else out their had trouble with Finder 1.2? Here's a description of what it's done to ME: HISTORY: I recently upgeaded my GS16FORTH to v2.0, which makes some use of GS/OS. The disk included updated copies of the old toolsets, the minimum necessary drivers, no desk accessories, and a few sample files. The filetype in question is $B3/0101, and there is a custom icon for it in the appropriate place. 1> For faster access to them, I dragged the compiled FORTHs out onto the desktop so they would be visible as soon as I inserted the disks. I saved the Finder data (those things get everywhere!), and shut the system down until I had something to program with it. 2> When I booted it up again (I was bored), the files showed up on the Finder's Desktop, but as regular application files. The custom icon (visible when in a directory window) was nowhere to be seen. 3> I used GET INFO on the endesktopped (?) files. They showed up as type $B3/0000. I put one of them back into a system window and GET INFOed it: $B3/0101. In the system window, it showed up as the custom icon again. 4> I pulled it back out onto the desktop, and it showed up as the custom icon, which it should have done all along. 5> I ejected both disks and immediately put them back in again. Lo and behold, ALL the delinquent files showed up using the custom icon. 6> I powered down, got four aspirin, and had a lie-down. 7> See step 2. What's going on here? In case the .sig like doesn't work: -David Wood
