I own an Apple 2c and I wanted to know if it is poosible to hook a regular modem to it that has a standard rs232 port. Is there any adapters that will turn apple's modem port into a regular rs232 port so that I can hook up a regular modem (serial) to it? Thanks, Christian. pa1293@iugrad2.ucsd.edu

The Apple //c modem port (port 2) is a configurable serial port that can be set for baud rates between 50 and 19200, for 5 to 8 data bits, for 1 or 2 stop bits, and for parity none, odd, even, MARK, or SPACE according to chapter 8 of my _Apple //c Technical Reference Manual_ (Addison-Wesley, MA, 1985). Both full and half duplex are available. I usually use my //c with an Apple Modem 300/1200, but have used it with an Avatex 2400. Both Apple Access and Softerm II software have worked. One does need an appropriate cable to go from the //c modem port to the jack on the mf one's choice. Cables for modems with regular serial jacks are sold. That is porbably what you want (a //c to serial input modem cable [the ones for Apple modems are also serial input, of course, but the connectors are non-standard]. ****DISCLAMER: My comments, etc., are my own shakey opinions ******** | Bruce P. I have seen cables converting the DIN plug to a DB25 plug in JDR Microdevices'
catalog. They have lots of other stuff too.
