Description: RE: Apple ][c modem port From: V584TJK8 Date: 19-OCT-1988 10:37:27 Well Cristian this is totally possible and it is not that dificult. Here I am going to teach you how to do it. First you need the RS232C Pin assigment for the modem in order to configure your cable. The apple ][c has two built in serial ports ( RS-232 AS we call it ) port 2 is the port that was designated the modem port. You must make sure that your modem is connected to this port and this port only. Here are the conection assigments ][c | Modem 1 DTR | DTR ( IDENTIFIED AS DTR TO MODEM ) 2 XMT | XMT ( IDENTIFIED AS XMT TO MODEM ) 3 GRND | GRND ( IDENTIFIED AS GRND PIN ) 4 RD | RD ( IDENTIFIED AS RECEIVE DATA FROM MODEM ) 5 DSR | DSR ( IDENTIFIED AS DATA SET READY FROM MODEM ) DTR = DATA TERMINAL READY DSR = DATA SET READY XMT = TRANSMIT DATA RD = RECEIVE DATA MALE ^ FEMALE ^ o 1 o5 o5 o1 o2 o4 o4 o2 o3 o3 NOTE: ^ indicates that this is the to of the 5 pin DIN connector. Identi- fiable by a notch at the top Should you have problems feel free to contact me by vax. V584tjk8 at node ubvmsc ps. Remember that you must have the modem pin assigment. RS 232 is an connection containing some special signals. That does not mean that all of them are equal in the pin assigment.
