I am just a little worried. Stve Jobs seems to have proved where he was at all this time with the NeXT machine. The thing is fabulous and innovative, and at $6500 it blows the Mac // out of the water. Question.. does anyone believe Apple will try to beef up the Mac to compete with NeXT, and thus, once again, scrap most avery project for the Apple // including the //GS+? I'm ticked because there is a possibility that w/ software, the NeXT machine could be a $6500 synclavier because of its sound capabilities. --> The Apple GS running 7.6MHz (by my estimation) could be a $2000 Fairlight CMI capable of supporting 16 MIDI channels through a card and playing itself as well as performance features. As a musician, the potential of the Ensoniq chip was the thing that kept bringing me back to the gs. But it wasn't fast enough to perform all the features that a musician would demand. If the GS+ comes out, I will program it to do this and more, such as wave analysis and construction, a feature only found presently on high end synths like the Fairlight and the Synclavier. Now, it seems, the NeXT machine may scare Apple out of producing anything for the // for a long time. I hope I am wrong. I welcome anything that may calm that havoc into some semblance of calm reason; i.e., if someone shows me I am wrong, then I become less stupid. Not a bad deal.
