The quality of text printouts has to be seen to be appreciated, particularly from a //, and the graphic printouts are very nice. Unfortunately noone has written any graphics drivers for the LQ on an 8 bit machine that I know of. Print quality from PUBLISH-IT! and SUPERFONTS is still pretty impressive. It hooks directly to the //C using a standard imagewriter to //c cable. One overlooked aspect is that true LQ is only achieved by not only setting the printer to LQ but specifying proportional print in your document. If you try a dealers machine with APPLEWORKS be sure to use the proportional1 or 2 setting From what I've read of the Imagewriter LQ technical reference manual it should be fairly easy to write drivers. When I get the filehandling routines I'm on finished I'll give it a shot. Bob Church CS656@OUACCVMB
