[net.movies] Ghostbusters question

[]
I have a question on "Ghostbusters". That unusual, Art Deco building
where Sigourney Weaver lived looked to me like the same building used
for Doc Savage's headquarters in George Pal's "Doc Savage" movie. Did
anyone else notice this? More important, does anyone know what building
it is? I really like it.

Actually, it is not based on any real buildings... it was apparently
(according to the CINEFEX article) put together from scraps of the buildings
used in the climax of BLADERUNNER.

Yes, it is a wonderful building. I noticed it too when I saw the
movie. Now, its been two years since I lived in New York, but the
building is in fact on CPW (Central Park West), in the 80's I believe.
I wish I remembered the name, but I've forgotten. It was so strange
towards the end of the film, when the building is being destroyed and
you have all those people milling about across the street by the park -
at first, I thought they had shot it on location, but then I don't
think that the tenants would have liked having their apartments destroyed,
even for a major motion picture. (One must sacrifice for art; but one's
apartment - in Manhattan?! Never!!)

I don't know about "Doc Savage", but the building you
mention is really on 69st & central park west in manhattan right
next to the crosstown route through the park.
