(A reasonable guess based on limited info, but you can easily verify that it's wrong by, for example, booting GS/OS from slot 5 (as I sometimes do) and using disk devices in slots 6 and 7.) GS/OS will not recognize an Apple SCSI card in any slot unless the SCSI.DRIVER has been installed in the SYSTEM:DRIVERS directory. However, ProDOS 8 (which replaces GS/OS automatically whenever you launch BASIC.SYSTEM or any other SYS file) requires no special drivers for the SCSI card or any other device whose ROM supports the ProDOS interface. In additon to the SCSI.DRIVER (install using the Installer), the ROM on the Apple SCSI card needs to have a revision C ROM (see other recent messages for the part number). Note that at least one person I know bought a SCSI card that *said* Rev C on the box, but it was Rev B! Don't believe everything you read on boxes.... --David A.
