I received several answers to my question about GS Works's printing/drawing abilities; although the answers were generally clear, they weren't answers to exactly the question I asked. Let me try one more time. I have multiscribe (never updated it to /GS) and a couple of other paint programs. They all suffer from the problem that not only do they print only in graphics mode, they print at a resolution which is governed by the resolution of the Apple display, in other words, in comparison to the output from a true wordprocessor, pretty crummy. My question about GS works can maybe then be phrased better as -- can it print text and/or graphics at the resolution of the printer (which is, say, several hundred dpi for a good printer) so that it comes out looking letter quality, or does it come out merely at the same resolution (or perhaps a factor two better) as on the GS superhires screen? One way to do that is to use the printers internal fonts (if they match what you are composing with) for text and only use graphics mode printing for non-built-in fonts or true graphics. I know Pagemaker does that for IBM systems. (Using the printer's builtin fonts when possible is also faster.) TMPLee@dockmaster.arpa
