I am running into a problem making a binary II file with BLU versions 2.26 and V2.29. I have tried both and get the same problem. When I select Make Binary II file from the main menu, I am then asked to give the source and destination. When I type in, for example, /disk.2/ for both the source and detination, I get an the following error: MLI ERROR $47 Duplicate Filename Changing either the source or destination to a different folder on the same disk yields the same result. The documentation I have for BLU doesn't help when things don't go according to plan. any help would be appreciated. Regards, Chris Shatara

When you are making a Binary // file, it wants a directory for the source, but a FILENAME, not a directory, for the destination. So if you wanted to make some files into a Binary // file called TESTFILE.BNY on your /disk.2/ volume, you would type /disk.2 for source and /disk.2/TESTFILE.BNY for destination. When you put in /disk.2/ for destination, you're telling ProDOS that you want to replace the volume directory on /disk.2 with the Binaryy // file (never a good thing to do... :-) ); the volume directory already exists, of course, so the MLI returns the "Duplicate Filename" error. Hope this helps. ------ Mark VanWinkle (phaedrus@blake.acs.washington.edu) I have no .sig file, so let's just pretend...

Reread the prompts. Its asking for a source directory and a destination filename. If you gave it '/disk.2/' for both the source and detination, you are giving it a destination directory, and not a destination pathname. Since I'm sure you are giving it the name of an existing directory, Walla!!! MLI ERROR $47 Duplicate Filename Change it to Source: /disk.2/ destination: /disk.2/myfile.bny it sould work now. -- Matthew Lee Stier (919) 469-8300| Sun Microsystems --- RTP, NC 27560| "Wisconsin Escapee" uucp: {sun, rti}!sunpix!matthew |
