I have several questions:
1) I just bought a CMS 60 meg hard drive, which I'm using with a
CMS SCSI II card. It's great, except for one thing: the fan
is *very* noisy. Have other people had this problem? Is it
possible to replace the fan with a quieter one and if someone
has done so can you tell me how? Would simply disconnecting the
fan be a bad idea?
2) I'm running GS/OS on the drive. GS/OS itself can handle volumes
up to four gigabytes. Unfortunately, it still uses the same old
ProDOS to store its own files, through the ProDOS FST, which limits
volumes to 32 megabytes. Therefore, I have to partition the drive
into two 30 megabyte volumes. That's not so terrible, but I'd
rather do away with the partition. My question is this: Will
there be a GS/OS FST? That is, will GS/OS ever have its *own*
file system (perhaps virtually identical to ProDOS but with some
of the annoying limitations removed) ? Keith, do you know
anything about this?
3) I remember reading here once about a way to send postscript output
to disk rather than a laserwriter, by typing apple-something in one
of the printer dialogs. Does anybody remember how to do this?
4) I'm having a hell of a time creating a window with an information bar
using TML Pascal. If somebody could post or send me a relevant piece
of code demonstrating this, I'd really appreciate it.
