[comp.sys.apple] kermit 3.85 for the apple

dwayne@UNTVAX.BITNET (12/06/88)

I went looking for kermit version 3.85 at columbia and on the list-server
at brown. I did not find it at either location. Can somebody tell me where
I can pick it up?

thanx in advance.

The most recent announced version is 3.84. Version 3.85 is in beta
test. Nearly all of the changes are transparent to users - some improvements
in the SSC driver, buffers, etc (I don't recall what else Ted told me -
nothing major). Apparently, it misbehaves on the //c+ (no doubt there'll
be a newer beta version or even 3.86 once Ted solves that problem).

Unless you're using a SSC clone that has problems with Kermit's driver
or your host is sensitive about the timing of the "break" signal,
version 3.84 (which IS the one on Columbia's servers) will do fine.

I believe that version 3.85 is still in beta testing and,
consequently, is not yet available for general distribution.
