[net.movies] Conan - The Destroyer

I saw Conan The Destroyer Sunday night and walked away with two
questions on my mind. 1) Who wrote this terrible move and why? and 2)
Arnold? where did your accent go??? (OK three questions!)

*********Big Disapointment and minor Spoiler*************

The movie left me with the impression that Conan was the "Dirty Harry"
of a mid-eval comic book world. There were probably more slashed and
hacked bodies than lines of dialog. Arnold's favorite lines were "No!",
"Hurry!", and the ever famous "Ugh!!". Arnold wields his big sword like
big clint swings his .44 magnum, and uses it with the same
effectiveness. His muscles may be growing, but his acting talent isn't.

Big Wilt (Chamberlain) says even less than Arnold (if that is possible)
and therefore he gave a very forgetable performance. He seemed to be
thinking out every movement and line rather that being the character he
is playing.

Grace (Slick) had a minor role but I liked her just because she looks
so...so different. If you liked her in the Honda scooter ad you'll like
her here.

The "wizard in the castle" part seemed too short or possibly it had been
edited down for time (although the whole movie was only about 100
minutes).

NOW THE VERDICT:
I liked Conan the Barbarian for a simple movie to sit and watch
without having to think. I thought Conan the Destroyer was about the
same with even less dialog to bog down the plot. If you are especially
fond of slash and hack scenes in slow motion then this one's for you. I
had to make a choice between seeing this and a sneek preview of "Revenge
of the Nerds" and I have a feeling that it was a toss-up.

That was Grace JONES not Grace SLICK although they are both...unique.

Umm... it was Grace JONES, not Grace SLICK. There's a big difference.

My friend and I counted and came up with a figure of 44 as the number
of deaths shown on screen. This includes both monsters, but not
the first wizard (did he die or just dissapear). These are just
confirmed kills, there were a large number of wounded who might not
have recovered, but we didn't include them.
