I posted a response to a note which some people have obviously not read. In it, I have apologized for some of the extraordinarily stupid things I have posted in previous messages. Of course, it asinine to say that any movie with social content is snobbery, and everyone who has told me so is exactly correct. My tirades came from a knee-jerk reaction from a note posted some weeks ago to the effect that all people discussing escapist films such as Indiana Jones, Star Trek 3, etc., were just juvenile idiots who babbled with low IQs. I owe a sincere apology to those people I have angered, and to simply restate my opinion as I originally meant it: Please let people watch and enjoy the films they enjoy. Be it escapist, social or whatever. But please dont lump all people into one category for the films they like. Not everyone likes Star Trek, not everyone likes Terms of Endearment. The difference in tastes is what makes the world interesting, not just the movies. Fans who enjoy Star Trek are not just juvenile idiots, and the Terms fans are not snobs. They are merely different people with different tastes. Again, I hope this ends the arguments, and offer this as a TRUCE!! Friends???????????????? David Whitney ctvax!uokvax!uok!dwhitney
