I don't think the Applecat needs any modifications to use the TTD (deaf)
mode.  In fact, the plain 300-baud Applecat (without the 1200-baud upgrade)
can use the 45.5 baud mode.

Novation is still around, but the poor 'Cat is so old that Novation says
"AppleCat? What's that?" when you call them.  However, you don't need
the deaf disk that they published to use the mode, if you have Ascii
Express Professional (the older versions, 3.43 or 4.2, before Ascii Express
Mousetalk came out.)  It lets you choose the 45.5 TTD rate the same as you'd
choose any other (from the "B" key).  Of course, you have to install it for
an AppleCat first.
