Speaking of "SERIOUS" scifi films, I saw "The Day The Earth Stood Still" on cable this weekend. Fabulous flick! Especially considering that it was done in the late 50's.

There is no such thing as "serious sci-fi." Serious science fiction is
always called "SF," to distinguish it from "sci-fi."
