For those of you with non-Apple SCSI drives (I'm waiting for mine to come from Hard Drives International, where they say it's back-ordered and I hope they're reliable and it comes before I have to pay my MasterCard), Open-Apple's January issue contains the changes needed in a program they published in January 87 which enables one to do a low level format of a SCSI drive. I've sent a note to Tom Weishaar asking whether I can upload it to Apple2-L. (There is already a low level formatting program on GEnie, but I don't know if it's safe and reliable.) Alan H. If not, DON'T PAY the MC bill for the item. Send MC a note explaining that you have not received the merchandise (it helps to enclose a copy of a letter to the vendor asking why the bill has been posted but the merchandise not shipped -- they're not supposed to do that under their contract with MC, Visa, etc.). Under Federal law, you can have your credit card company credit you even if you've paid (for up to one year) if you have not received or have returned the merchandise, but not paying in the first place tends to be more of an attention getter. My experience with MasterCard is that they are pretty good about following up with vendors. Once you do receive the merchandise and pay the bill, you DO NOT have to pay interest for period during which payment was withheld (why pay early? The interest on your NOW account may not be enough to pay the postage on the letter asking the vendor why the bill without the merchandise, but it's better than nothing.
