SEWALL@UCONNVM.BITNET (Murph Sewall) (12/31/88)
As long as we've had an exchange (irrelevant to Apple 2) about sending Christmas cards to Florida in an attempt to make the Guiness Book of records, here's something amusing (at least a personal computer is involved to keep count :-) From the Wall Street Journal, 30 Dec '88 (I think - I cut out the article and didn't save the date) A second grade class in New Jersey is trying to understand how big a million is by collecting tea-bag TAGS (-->note<-- the TAGS, not the yucky, used tea bags ;-). So far, they've collected 227,600. The children are learning not only about numbers, but also about colors, shapes, and distant tea-drinking lands such as Australia, Israel, and Japan. So far, students have collected 295 different specimens; their favorite is a tag with the "Ghostbusters" logo; runners up include a Frech tag illustrated with an elephant and another with a penguin. If you happen to drink tea, and PARTICULARLY if you drink something exotic (other than Lipton or Tetley), you can contribute to this educational effort by mailing some bag TAGs to: Ms. Rosanne Ponchick Longfellow School Teaneck, NJ If there's a list around for which the message is appropriate - or you want to fan the flamers :-O reproduce and repost this message willy-nilly (or nilly-willy if that suits you). Have a Happy, and DESIGNATE A DRIVER (who can drink Monday at home during the football games!).
