Ghost Busters... see it!

The other night I happened to catch about two-thirds of the video for
the song Ghost Busters on M-TV and it was a fairly good video. But I
have some questions to anyone who has seen it... I recognized a few of
the people they have guest appearing in the video and I was wondering
if anyone outthere could tell me who the others were.

People I recognized.

Chevy Chase, James Coco, Teri Garr, and of course Dan, Bill and Harold...

Hey, no flames please the video had clips from the movie......

I saw this video at the start of a show by Dr. Demento and "Weird" Al
Yankovic at the Starry Night, here in Portland.

One of the bodies was Peter Falk( Columbo, The In-Laws, etc).

Great video. Great movie. Yum, yum.

A few others in the Ghostbusters video:
		Peter Falk
		Al Franken
		Melissa Gilbert (I may have the name wrong;

But, more importantly, who's the georgeous woman in the video?

I've only seen the video once, but I believe that Irene Cara is also
in it.

Besides the other individuals mentioned, I believe Carly Simon was in
one of the celeb cameo shots chorusing "Ghostbusters!"

The very attractive young lady in the white lace thingy running away
from Ray Parker is one of the regulars on HBO's Not Necessarily the
News. I don't remember her name, but a dedicated lecher like myself
seldom forgets such nice legs (et. al.).

     Danny,

In addition to the ones you named, I also found:

Somebody who looks like Eddie Grant,
The lawyer-turned-judge on Hill Street Blues,
George Wendt (Norm on Cheers) and,
	   Carly Simon

I don't think there are any others, but I would like to find out
who the Eddie Grant lookalike is.

After I saw Dennis Gibbs' posting, I said to myself, "Nah, that isn't Terri
Garr, is it?" In the time between then and now, when I read Ken Fishkin's post-
ing making the same identification, I have seen the video three times. That is
definitely *not* Terri Garr!!! I'm not *positive* who it is, but my original
guess, which I stick by now, is that it's Christie Brinkley.

In an attempt to put the questions on the cast of Ghostbusters
to rest, I submit the following:

Excerpted, in part, from the Chicago Tribune, Sunday, July 15, 1984
without permission (of course).

"Rock video's latest gimmick:
Cameos by famous faces"

By David Bianculli

The latest and best example of the video cameo is tied in with the
new "Ghostbusters" film. Ray Parker Jr.,who sings the title song in
that comedy, appears in a video clip that--unlike earlier film and video
tie-ins, such as Michael Sembello's "Maniac" from "Flashdance"--takes an
unprecedented triple threat approach.

First, it peppers Parker's performance with healthy doses of "Ghostbusters"
film clips, including virtually all of the movie's most memorable special
effects. Second, it features the stars of the film--Bill Murray, Dan
Aykroyd and Harold Ramis--strutting and singing in a brief, specially
recorded insert.

Third, and most important, it is comprised of cameo roles by nearly a dozen
music, film and TV stars, all of whom appear for an instant, sing or
shout the word "Ghostbusters!" and vanish.

In this one clip, the cameo guest list includes John Candy, Carly Simon,
Peter Faulk, Teri Garr, Irene Cara, "Saturday Night Live" veterans Chevy
Chase and Al Franken, Danny De Vito, Melissa Gilbert [Laura on "Little
House on the Prairie"], George Wendt [Norm on NBC's "Cheers"] and Jeffrey
Tambor [who plays Judge Alan Wachtel on NBC's "Hill Street Blues"]. The
challenge to the other videos seems to be "beat this!"--and before too
long, one of them probably will.

Sorry, but Chevy Chase is the last person to appear in
the Ghostbuster's video. He comes on just after Teri
Garr, and the music is beginning to fade out. He's doing
the trick of flipping the cigarette around
in his mouth, and then the Ghostbuster's
logo appears on the huge electronic billboard in NYC (the
one on the beginning credits of Saturday Night Live).

The question still stands: who's the gal Ray Parker's
dancing around with. I'm pretty sure it's not the lady
from HBO's Not Necessarily the News as somebody suggested
earlier.

I think you may be seeing a shortened version
of the video, and confusing her with Carly Simon.
I've made a VCR copy off of MTV (where they play
the whole thing) and watched it several times.
It is definitely Terri Garr. She speaks the word
"Ghostbusters" and puts her hands up to her cheeks.
Hearing her voice leaves no doubt in my mind.

Well, I got a few mail messages with respect to my posting about Teri Garr not
being in the "Ghostbusters" video, most of them saying, when all is said and
done, that I was full of what makes the grass grow. So, Wednesday morning, I set
the Betamax to tape five hours worth of MTV whilst I slept the sleep of the con-
fident. Hah! I'll show those bastards! I arose in the late afternoon, and having
caught my fix of YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON TELEVISION (on Nickelodeon), I zipped
through approximately three and a half hours of the tape, until I hit "Ghost-
busters". When I got to the controversial sequence, I watched it about three
times, the whole while saying, "Naaahhhh. Doesn't look like Teri Garr to me."
Then, to be sure, I went through it again, frame by frame. Jaw drops to the
floor (Thud!). "Nahhh [a little less confidently], can't be! But it is! It *is*
Teri Garr!" And so, here I sit, with egg on my face. I can only say, and truth-

Stephan, et al:

I finally got tired of trying to find out who the Eddy Grant/
Rick James/Stevie Wonder/whoever person is in the Ghostbusters
video, so I called all the way to Arista records, who produced the
video, in NY and asked them. And the answer is... Ollie Brown.

Huh? That's what they said, Ollie Brown. Anybody out there know
who Ollie Brown is, 'cause I sure don't.

My next attempt is to call MTV to find out who the blonde
chased by Ray Parker, Jr. is. The only thing I have ever seen her
in besides the video is a TV commercial for Caress soap: a couple
is asleep in bed and the alarm goes off, "...it's 8:05 and...", they
jump up out of bed and she's the first one to hit the shower. She
comes out all soft and glittery, he starts to get a little frisky,
and she says, "We're gonna be late..." Cut.

If I find out anything interesting, I'll post it.
