>Why does Applelink hang up on me during a download? Last night >I was trying to download the ACU and it hung up every time. I >finally gave up in disgust. HELP!!! If you are using a IIGS, I know (sort of) what your problem is. I got my AppleLink signup, signed up, and went straight to the download section. I tried several times to download several files, and each time it would either give me a screenful of error codes to report to AppleLink or just hang. So I called them. "Oh, we're having a problem with downloading to the GS," they tell me, "but it should be fixed in a week or so." I called them a week later, and the latest word I have is that they are going to mail a new AppleLink disk (the guy said it would probably be v1.0.1) to GS owners who call and report a problem. However, I haven't received my new disk yet. By all means, call their 800 number and let them know. Also, if you spend an appreciable amount of time in failed downloads, they will credit you for that time. Let us know if you hear anything... +----------------------------------------------------------------+ |Rob Knauerhase |Bitnet%Knauer@CWRU | |"It's not just a network, |rck@skybridge.sdi.cwru.edu | | it's a FETHTIVAL!" |GEnie:R.Knauerhase | | --David Letterman (in spirit) |AppleLinkPE:RCK2 | +----------------------------------------------------------------+

RE: Applelink and downloading I don't think this will help, but I use Applelink from a GS with an internal Applied Engineering Datalink 2400 modem and have no problems downloading -- nor did I have to get an updated version of the software. I would make sure all the settings for your modem port, modem, software etc. are properly set and call their customer service for help... --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Block jib@prism.TMC.COM {mit-eddie, pyramid, harvard!wjh12, xait, datacube}!mirror!prism!jib Matthew Bender Inc, 11 Penn Plaza, NY, NY 10001 (212) 216-8018
