Good news for BITNETers. Apple has become a directly connected Internet host. That means the BITNET gateways will recognize addresses of username@Apple.COM (mjohnson@Apple.COM, for example). NOTE! <--- Claris.COM is NOT a direct Internet host. Mail to Claris come can be successfully sent via 'relay.cs.net' or by UUCP: username@claris.UUCP or username%Claris.COM@relay.cs.net HOWEVER, the UUCP map shows the route to 'apple' (also on UUCP) as: ames!claris!apple!username Fer sure, host 'apple' knows about host 'claris' :-) soooo.... an address of username%Claris.COM@Apple.COM *should(?)* work (I haven't tried sending by that route, so I don't have first hand confirmation; perhaps, Scott Lindsey knows?). ----------------------------Original message---------------------------- Apple Computer (APPLE) Hostname: APPLE.COM Address: 192.5.58.12 System: VAX-11/780 running UNIX Coordinator: Fair, Erik E.
