My we've had a rash of these lately.

I agree with Brint. If they can't figure out where to send the mail to
sign-off they should be left on the list until they rot :-) (or until
their account becomes invalid and all their mail bounces, whichever comes
first).

GENERAL RULE: It is NOT proper form to ask to sign off of ANY list by
sending mail to the list (will everyone please remember
that? I promise to point my flame thrower at anyone
              who doesn't).

BITNET RULE: Your list mail comes from a LISTSERV (the "Sender" line
will almost always tell you which one has you on it's
              subscription list). For info-apple, that's LISTSERV@NDSUVM1
(and the list name is INFO-APP, 'cause IBM thinks 8 characters
are sufficient to describe anything :)

Sooooo.... to signoff the list; mail to
LISTSERV@NDSUVM1 ===> note COMMANDS are addressed to LISTSERV
the command: UNSUB INFO-APP <=== simple, huh?

If you want off ALL lists you may be subscribed too, send
any LISTSERV@node the command: UNSUB * (NETWIDE

ARPANET RULE: Send requests to be added, deleted, or altered (fixed?) to
              list-name-request@node (in this case info-apple-request@BRL.MIL)

USENET RULE: Stop keying "rl" (or "rn")? ;-)

Oh, if you're subscribed to APPLE2-L, Chris and I will let it keep sending
you 800 line files until you UNSUB the way you ought (unless you're at one
of those Internet sites that has it's address altered going through gateways
so that LISTSERV can't match you're "From" line with it's list of names -
we give credit for good-faith efforts).
